Individual study plan

Each doctoral student must have an individual study plan signed by the advisor as well as by the student.

The individual study plan (ISP) is an agreement between the doctoral student, all supervisors, the director of studies and the head of department about the contents of the student's education. The syllabus is established when the department has admitted a student to a doctoral position.

The ISP is to be filled out by the doctoral student and the supervisor and signed by all parties concerned ahead of the admission. The ISP is to be reviewed at least once a year. If there is a departure in the programme from the original syllabus, the sections concerned shall be revised. ISP shows which courses are included in the education, other knowledge tests, the supervisors' role and the time schedules and funding plans.

The Individual Study Plan is described in the Higher Education Ordinance (Högskoleförordningen).
