Plastics are essential and ubiquitous materials in our daily lives and address numerous challenges in our society. They can save fuel, CO2 emissions, reduce energy consumption, enhance food safety and food waste, and new technology in 3D printing using bio-compatible plastic materials may even save human lives by enabling medical innovation. Still, plastic waste is an increasing problem and challenge, particularly to the marine environment where a lot of it ends up.

Tid: 2019-05-16 kl 14:15,
Plats: Handelshögskolan, Vasagatan 1 - Volvosalen

Evenemangstyp: Föreläsning

The economic analysis of climate change presents an incredibly difficult intellectual challenge. It compels the economist to confront issues that push economic analysis to the breaking point - and sometimes well beyond. Economists are forced to grapple with many issues that are novel or that have previously been swept aside. The questions being raised are of supreme importance, but do not often lend themselves to simple or easy answers.

Föreläsare: Speaker: Martin L. Weitzman, professor of Economics at Harvard University. His current research is focused on environmental economics, specifically climate change and the economics of catastrophes. Martin Weitzman is one of the most prominent researchers in the field of environmental economics.
